X3435 Extract from R1/M29.4.25. (X.8770 X.2565) Coupling. X.8305 X.3435 I have mentioned elsewhere that this is not only an EAC. but equally a 40/50 problem. We calculate that if we can make a fabric coupling stand 10,000 in.lbs. reverse torque, it should live. Our tests are not ideal: I should prefer a slower rest more like Upton Lewis. Wagging the wheel is O.K. from one to another, but it is uncertain what stress it applies because if the coupling is elastic the wheel will over-run the crank and increase the stress beyond the calculated amount. We have sent the best design of clutch we know of that can be got in. Mr. Stent is sketching a new test rig. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
