HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/R.1.5.39.

With reference to the Chassis Conference held Wednesday, 26th April, we have already written to you re the 8-cylinder car.

With regard to the "Silver Ripple", we send you copy of a memo we have sent to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} You will observe that while the original "Silver Ripple" is to be built with standard parts, we want a series of parts to go along in parallel, which are cheaper and lighter, and these will be fitted to the car before it goes to France.

With regard to your query re the conventional engine, apart from the cylinder head and the crankcase drilling for the cylinder head studs, the same jigs can be used for this unit as for the high power engine. We recommend that the minimum number of jigs and tools are produced for the head drilling, but should like to go ahead and produce one engine for purposes of comparison. We should particularly like to urge the 4-cylinder crankshafts.

We are particularly interested in induction pipes for the B.60, Code BC.14, and the B.60 Cylinder Head, Code BC.6/3.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}
