ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC. SPRINGFIELD, MASS. X7305 OY-1 June 12, 1929. Mr. E.W. Hives, Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby, England. CONFIDENTIAL Dear Mr. Hives: Engine Coupling - Section 6020 We notice that the fabric coupling has been dropped from the S.S. layouts. While we realize that a fabric coupling is less necessary with the Hotchkiss drive, I should appreciate a note from you on why the fabric coupling was dropped. That is was it found that the coupling went to pieces in its enclosed location due to heat and oil, or was it just a matter of convenience? I may add that since adopting the "bulged" fabrics about which we wrote you and of which you have samples, we are satisfied with the fabric coupling. Very truly yours, ROLLS ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC. r/ Maurice Olley | ||
