To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW. X53 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW1/LG13.6.27. SHELL AVIATION AND BENZOL. X53 X20431 We have now received a consignment of the above, which should have been mixed by the Shell Co. in the proportion 20% benzol to 80% Aviation spirit. Analysis by Hl. shews that the mixture is low in aromatic content viz: 28%. The A.M. requirements for a standard spirit is "not less than 30% and not more than 38% of aromatic hydro-carbons". As Hl. reports that Shell Aviation spirit contains 19% of aromatics, we should be glad if to know that this will be corrected in the next delivery, as we would prefer to be nearer the maximum figure rather than under the minimum.
