Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Date 3.12.28. Page 2 good as can now be obtained with the existing design. Within 35 miles, i.e. 2 gallons of the top of the filler, vigorous pumping has taken place, and the whole of the scale of the gauge, with the exception of the bell, has been corrected. Counting from 14 gallons, or "full" level in the tank, 1¼ has to be used before vigorous pumping takes place, which we think is as good as can be expected under the conditions. These figures were of course obtained with the tank installed on the luggage carrier, which is slightly further out from the back of the car, and higher up than the normal tank installation. From our tests the unit appears to pump adequately at all other levels, and we think that this installation will give satisfactory all round results. Assuring you at all times of our best attention, We remain, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, H.M.HOBSON,Ltd., [Signature: T.P. Searight] Joint Managing Director. P.S. We are also in receipt of your letter of the 30th ult., attaching report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL1/LG30.11.28, and we will communicate with you in the course of a few posts on this matter. | ||
