Hook. P.H.Rose. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}15/JH.23.1.39. S.B.V. Bentley. Thanking you for your further reports and notes. We shall be interested to hear whether reversing the body mounting bolts overcomes completely the foul with the springs. The trouble which you are experiencing with the O.S.F. damper sounds similar to that which we experienced with the N.S.F. due to deterioration of the refill valve seatings. It was cured by AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} and FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} by scraping the tops of the pistons with the flat scraper which we generally use for decarbonising piston tops, and then lapping the refill valves on to the pistons. If the trouble becomes serious you may have to do this. Thanking you for your reports on the distributor test. The mileage should be continued on the R.R. unit. The Avon tyres were despatched on Jan. 12th. and we know of no reason why they should not have arrived. We have wired you to purchase tyres if necessary. We have sent out a new pair of horns. Please send the faulty ones back when these are fitted. We suggest that you contrive a means of balancing the front wheels if you find them sufficiently out to affect the steering or cause uneven tyre wear. Have you received the silentbloc rear damper links, Marchal bulb adaptors and hub caps? I enclose application form for check book. Please obtain this and post it to me. We have been noticing your daily mileages. | ||
