X.3517 - GOSHAWK 11 - MAGNETO CONTROL GEAR. X.4221
X.4239

We send you herewith drawing No.LeC.1532 shewing the above.

The control gear has been arranged so that the magneto can be adapted to any production engine as desired once the necessary bosses have been added to the crankcase for a small bracket at the rear end situated over the flywheel. The stud holes for this latter should be drilled and tapped in readiness. It will be unnecessary to plug them as they do not break through the flywheel casing.

Generally speaking we anticipate that where a magneto is required, the battery ignition will be retained, the latter being using regularly and the magneto as a stand-by.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} The controls however can be arranged for either or both ignitions.

The vertical control shaft at present used for the battery ignition only has been modified somewhat to take both ignition controls, but the facings on the crankcase and water jacket cover remain unaltered.

The standard production chassis fitted with battery ignition only we think should have the vertical control shaft arranged as on LeC.1532, and then the least possible alteration will be necessary when adapting a magneto. In this respect it will be advantageous to clip on the magneto control lever to this shaft with biting-in-bolt instead of brazing.
