DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}2000. SWITCHBOX. SECTION 8160. D.CD.834. (SHT.1). Switches for Separate Mounting. In accordance with Experimental Report Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}5.4.39., the following modifications are required to improve the action of the Lighting Switch. The Ignition Switch is also affected as the action is similar, and the Fixed Contacts are common to both switches:- (1) The two Contact Inserts DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1984 and DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}2009 now have a shallow conical recess in place of the original spherical one. To avoid Scrap, the existing pieces can be removed from the Ignition and Lighting Switches and modified as shown in Alteration 5615/D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (2) Similar conical recesses are required in the moulded base for each switch. These should be produced by machining. See Alterations :- 5616/D for Lighting Switch Base - DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1976. 5617/D for Ignition Switch Base - DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1973. (3) Both Ignition and Lighting Switches should be fitted with the original Contact Plates DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1985 and DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1995 respectively, in place of DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}2299, DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}2283 and DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}2284 issued in BY/RD.2/B.18.2.39. (4) The Lighting Switch should be fitted with the higher rated Spring - DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}2359, in place of DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1996. (5) This Switch will also have a new lever to replace the temporary Knob - DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1977. This lever will provide more clearance with the Aluminium front cover, and also the "D" Shaped bore of the Contact Driving Piece. -Contd- | ||
