SPORTS PHANTOM II REAR AXLE. X. 7350
X. 2066

We send herewith N. scheme 2971., shewing a revision of the original temporary bevel axle shewn on N. scheme 2784. The revision consists in the addition of the modifications made to the hypoid axle casing to strengthen it.

The object of this is, in case it is decided to use this bevel axle it will be brought into line with the hypoid. R.{Sir Henry Royce} has suggested that it might be used for the sports car.

A ratio as high as 14/41 is shewn as being possible, and this would appear to be what is required.

Before anything is done with it however we are devising a similar 14/41 ratio on the hypoid axle, and shall send you this in the course of a few days. General convenience will determine which should be used.

P.S.
Since writing the above it has been decided to use a hypoid gear and not a bevel, consequently this drawing is only s ent to you for storage until further instructions.
