R.R. 63 (10m T) (S.F. 690. 28-5-19.) Bm. s/392/20. X3406 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C to Rg.{Mr Rowledge} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/P5/F16.8.21. Re - 8-Eagle Altitude Control Needle. We have just had a letter from Mr. Lappin pointing out that Messrs. Instones are having a lot of trouble with the carburetter due to vibration wearing the quick thread which controls this needle. You will remember we had a similar complaint from Messrs. Handley Page about this matter some time ago. Mr. Lappin remarks that he thinks something ought to be done to overcome this trouble as machines never fly above 2000 feet, and the control as it stands at present seems to be superfluous. No doubt you will please go into this matter with Rg.{Mr Rowledge} and let us know what is proposed to be done. We believe Messrs. Handley Page permanently fixed the needle by soldering up. EP.{G.
