600 HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}13/R.5.4.37. Confirming our conversation, the three experiments we should like to carry out on the Wraith are;- (1) Removal of the frame boxing behind the cross, leaving small parts, where necessary, such as for the spring anchorage, etc. (2) Remove the cross entirely, and fit, where necessary, simple cross members to support the engine and brake mechanism. (3) Bolt in an 'I' section cross like the P.III one. On Wraith No. 1 car, 24.G.VI, we are going to spend a few more days on the engine mounting, and we shall then send it into the Shop for the experiments mentioned.
