Referring to C1/H26720 addressed to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, which has been handed to me, please note that our discussion in my office yesterday covered all the points raised. We wish to confirm the position as follows:-

X1019
(1) Warland rims in any case are to be turned down.

(2) An error has crept in your memo in this item. We have always tried to make it plain that for a customer who insists on having either straight sided tyres or Warland rims, we could push the latter off of his proposition by giving him straight sided tyres and wheels, providing the chassis will be delivered later than October 1st. The point to note is that such customers can, and will have straight sided tyres and wheels suitable for same long before the 1250 sets of standard wheels have been used up. If the straight sided wheels are not available on October 1st, or when the customer takes delivery, then we will have to supply our standard wire wheel, but as at that time we will probably have only delivered 800 chasses we shall be able to take back the standard wire wheel and credit customers in full for same, since we will then be able to use them on our standard production.

Please read this very carefully and compare with my previous memos BY6-P19520 and BY6-P15720, which all try to elucidate the fact above referred to.

(3) In regard to Michelin disc wheels the position is as follows:-

a/- The Experimental Department have ordered from America Michelin disc wheels suitable for straight sided tyres, which therefore have a detachable flange.

b/- We cannot make any departure at the moment in the direction of producing standard Michelin wheels, as marketed in this country, as the fixed rim is certainly going out and therefore we cannot make a
