History of starting from cold.

Dec. 1920. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported from U.S.A. that starting of R-R Cars in America unsatisfactory.

Jan. 1921. Experiments started at Derby with Pilot Jet.

Mar. 1921. Mr. Royce's Car 6.EX delivered to him fitted with Pilot Jet - has been in use on the car ever since.

May. 1921. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} took a sample Pilot Jet to U.S.A. and convinced Springfield that it was the best improvement they had tried for starting.

July.1921. LeC.design received at Derby for Pilot Jet.

Aug. 1921. We sent another experimental improved Pilot Jet to U.S.A.

Sept.1921. We reported to Mr. Royce that the Pilot Jet made to LeC.design was unsatisfactory.

At the present time there is no approved design of Pilot Jet but Mr. Royce has agreed that the scheme used on the one made up by Experimental Dept. is the best. This is the type which we sent a model of to Springfield in August.
