Mr.R.N.Neill lamp designer of Messrs.Lucas visited us yesterday when we staged a demonstration of headlamps and fog lamps and had an interesting discussion together regarding the most efficient and desirable optical arrangements for our headlamps. As a result of our discussion we have asked Mr.Neill to submit for test a pair of P.100 headlamps which will have the following experimental features :- (1) The electro magnetic dipper unit to be entirely deleted, and the reflector made rigid. (2) Lucas graves type lamp adaptors to be fitted to the reflector and not from the front tripod as at present. (3) Double filament lamps of the Lucas graves type having a 60 watt main filament and 48 watt dipped. (4) The front glass to be plain except for slight vertical prismatic effect of the bottom of the glass. (5) Bulb and reflector all in the front rim. (6) No Lacquer to be used on the reflector surfaces. (7) A thin sports tripod to be fitted to the front of the glass to improve the appearance of the lamp. These lamps will be much lighter and more efficient than our present P.100 lamps. | ||
