As indicated above, the Coachbuilders have not really discussed this question of joint responsibility, but appear to be quite willing to fall in with it, and if this is arranged satisfactorily to them, then presumably the necessity for their building a body on their own responsibility no longer exists.

With regard to the No.4. body, we are quite willing that this should be another Continental Saloon but we still want to emphasise the necessity of testing out a body of the Sedanca type. There is still a demand for this type of body that we have to supply, and as they are the worst type of body, we do want to know the effect of them on the new chassis.

We are also quite willing that you should experiment with steel panels on this No.4.body - it will be an interesting experiment.

We would therefore like to know whether you will make the Sedanca type of body No. 5 or 6.

We have since received your further memo. E2/HPL.3.35, and see no objection to the various suggestions contained therein, provided, of course, the Coachbuilders approve technically, in view of the suggestion above of joint responsibility.

We cannot comment on No.1. because we have not the drawings before us.

In addition to your various points, the CSC. suggest that there should be incorporated, provided the Coachbuilders approve:-

(1) Lubricators to the visible hinges to the doors.
(2) Wick-fed lubrication to the door locks, as on the Cadillac.
(3) Door handles located through rubber-loaded bushes, to damp rattles.

As a matter of fact we have arranged to ask the leading Coachbuilders to investigate the possibility and practibility of embodying many of the above three features and those contained in your memo in future production of current type bodies, as distinct from SpectreCodename for Phantom III.
