Copy. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY/Cgh{W Clough}5/G26.11.31. 40/50 HP Bonnets. With reference to PN{Mr Northey}17/WT26.11.31, so far as we are aware there have been no complaints from customers in regard to the trouble now pointed out, but we can see that it is likely to occur, the reason being that if care is not exercised in closing the bonnets the locks hit the side rest plate, and break it away. The locks are at present fitted so that they actually touch the rest plate when the bonnets are closed, and this may also have some effect on the wearing away of the rest plate. To alleviate the trouble we propose to fit the locks so that they are quite clear of the rest plates, also fit some kind of guide plate behind the locks. These alterations could not be introduced until the existing stock of bonnet locks has been used up. BY/Cgh{W Clough} | ||
