By/RD. Wraith Petrol System. We have issued a drawing of the large A.C. Mechanical petrol pump on the engine, in conjunction with a single electric pump on the front engine foot. This permits one flexible pipe to be used. The question of the filters then arises. The A.C. pump has its own filter which deals effectively with the fluff from the flexible pipe before it enters the pump, and also, because it will be the pump normally working with the general dirt in the system, but it will not deal with fluff entering the electric pump from the flexible pipe. We are, therefore, proposing to provide a fine filter in the single electric pump similar to that in the standard S.U. pump, and it appears that this can easily be done. By/RD is making a scheme, and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Dixon is taking it up with the makers. Lee 5725 If the filter on the mechanical pump works as we expect it will, a separate main filter should not be necessary, But we have provided a scheme of a main filter mounted low down in the L.H. corner of the dash for Wraith III, and this can be utilised by a slight adaptation to include this filter in the latest mechanical and electric pump system, with the pipes outside the frame, if an additional main filter is found necessary. There remains the filter in the banjo on the carburetter, which, though fluff has been stopped by the other filters we suppose may still be needed. We are sending an adaptation of the one provided for P.III, for use on Wraith III. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
