Tyres Touching Cross Steering Tubes. Replying to your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.9/AP.7.3.38, the tyres do not foul the cross steering tube ends under any normal conditions. The static clearance is 9/16". We have observed tyres marked in the way you mention on Wraith, Phantom III, and Bentley, but only under abnromal conditions, and it does not appear to do any harm. We do not think there is any need to increase the clearance on Wraith with the present 6.50" section tyres. When you go to 7.00" tyres, as we think you eventually will, it may require attention. ---------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} I. W. Waller. | ||
