| SECRET. X323 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}1/HP.28.5.35. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Exhaust System. We send you herewith a blueprint of LeC.4514 showing a much larger exhaust manifold than the present one, having for its object a reduction of "tittering" noises. The design calls for a new cylinder head, but it is thought that it may be possible to build up an experimental pair of manifolds nearly approaching those shewn on the design, and which can be fitted to an existing engine. The test should tell us whether the larger manifold has any advantage as regards reducing the exhaust "titters", without going to the expense of producing a modified cylinder head casting. Print LeC.4514 herewith. E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} | ||
