To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. BJ5/H12.4.23. X4429 Standardisation Sheet 4419. Road Springs made by Firths in Place of Woodheads. 40/50 and 20 hp. With reference to Standardisation Sheet 4419, concerning using springs made by Firths in place of Woodheads on both the 40/50 and 20 h.p., please let me know:- 1. Why it is suggested we should change makers. 2. What tests have been made of the 40/50 h.p. springs on the bumping rig, and whether it is really considered safe to change over before any of these springs have been used on the road, as it seems probable that the bumping rig might not discover defects that the road might discover. 3. Is the change likely to cost anything extra? The report attached to your sheet only says that the change is not likely to effect any saving. B.J. [STAMP: RECEIVED APR 13 1923] | ||
