HOOD To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} (For Log Book). C. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}28.12.38. WEEK-END RUN ON 9.B.V. Most of the things wrong with this car are already known because it has not been built to an up-to-date specific-ation. A few points are as follows:- (1) The automatic starting carburetter gives the right mixture for a flat out getaway from cold, but if the engine is allowed to warm up at 1,000 revs. it runs very erratically. (2) The gearbox is too noisy on all gears. The selector springs obviously do not give 9 lbs. at the knob. (3) The steering is much heavier than 8.B.V. (4) The brakes are too heavy to operate and the pedal squeaks when ever it is moved. (5) The water thermometer never reads less than 55 and normally runs at 91. (6) The nearside front door latch is not a success, and on one occasion could not be opened from the inside. (7) The smell peculiar to B.V. cars is present on this one. (8) The bonnet has never been fitted properly, and this should be done when the car is next in the shop. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
