COPY LETTER 3/7, Alfred Place London, W.C. (1). Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. 3rd March, 1934. Dear Sirs, Your Ref. ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/JT.15/GB. We thank you for yours of February 28th and note with extreme regret that our Bonnet Fastener has given trouble owing to an apparent weakness in the pin securing the rod of the handle piece. Toremove any doubt from your mind as to the strength of the assembly, we have during the last six years sold many tens of thousands and in no instance has a similar fault to the one referred to in your letter occurred. If, however, you desire a steel pin to replace thebrass one it will give us pleasure to make the substitution. The reason for using a hard drawn brass wire for this particular pin is that steel does not accept the chromium plating or retain a uniform chromium finish like the brass pin. We have today replaced the faulty fastener free of charge, and if you will be good enough to return any others that you have in your possession we shall be glad to replace these. Yours faithfully, REMAX LIMITED. (Sgd) C. S. Grose. (Contracts Manager) CSG/MTF. | ||
