I understand that there is to be some alteration in the arrangement made for PN{Mr Northey}'s visit to France with the F.W.B. car, of which you are probably aware. In any case this will affect the matter on which I spoke to you, my having the use of the car from the 8th August to the 25th August.

You told me also that the car you had provided for PN{Mr Northey}'s trip was fitted with a Cabriolet body and I would very much prefer an Open Body and do not mind in the slightest how roughly it is finished off, provided it has upholstery of some sort front and back and a hood. In fact, if it is not required for any other duties, 98-MK.{R. E. B. Meade-King} would suit my purpose exactly, and if you are desirous of putting up some mileage on this car with the 12% stronger springs, I should be glad to help you in this matter by driving it during the above period.

Perhaps you will review what cars are available and possible under the whole of the circumstances and let me know before Friday of this week what you now suggest, so that I may make definite arrangements, which if left until the close of the Works holiday, will leave time rather short.
