TO R.{Sir Henry Royce} FROM AJS. C. to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X8310 AJS1/M20.12.26. PHANTOM GEARBOX. The internal and external toothed direct drive in place of the dog clutch, which was referred to by yourself recently, is, Derby have informed us, on test. The result of our recent re-instruction of this for standard gearboxes is that the scheme, I understand, is now ready to be fitted to a gearbox. I do not find any standardisation sheet for the above, but as these do not circulate through this department at WW., I may have overlooked it. If HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has not already issued a stan-dardisation sheet, will he kindly do so. AJS. | ||
