PRESSED STEEL BODY "MYTH".

The original project with regard to this job was that Mr. Green would work with the Pressed Steel Company, who would provide all the "horse-power" with regard to drawing.

The situation now is that the Pressed Steel Company are so fully engaged on war-work that they have no Drawing Office capacity left to deal with the work. They are, however, prepared to help us in an advisory capacity to ensure that anything we draw fits in with their ideas of manufacture.

Mr. Green tells us that the full-size body drawing requires about 5,000 man hours to complete.

Under the circumstances, therefore, we asked you to agree to our taking on two draughtsmen to help Mr. Green to complete the full-size drawing.

This is rather specialised work and we have no-one who is suitable.

We have succeeded in obtaining two first-class men from Briggs.

This class of draughtsman is asking, and obtaining, £8 per week so we have had to come into line with the existing rate. The work they would do now, however, should save at least six months in getting the pressed steel body into production.

The ensure that the full-sized drawing is going to be reasonably acceptable, we should like your agreement to go ahead and get a model made of the car we are proposing. We have found a model maker whom Mr. Green recommends, for the job, and who is prepared to do the necessary work for £80.

The model will be of a car with a metal finished radiator and bumper bars, lamps, etc.,

Agreed
