| X300a 80 HOTEL DE FRANCE, CHATEAUROUX. Indre. France. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/HFH{Hoppy F. Hamilton}/3/JAB. 19th June 1936 WST. See me Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} To. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 32. EX. After 6,000 miles running, the dynamo has failed to charge. The trouble was traced to a short circuit due to the "bakelite" insulation round the two terminals having cracked. This led to heating up and resulted in the commutator becoming burnt at two points, which gradually spread till a large number of segments were out of action. The brushes had rapidly worn right down till the spring tension had gone. No fault or breakdown was found in the armature windings and fixings; the commutator was therefore cleaned up, new brushes fitted, also new terminals to replace the faulty ones. The dynamo is now charging satisfactorily. -------- GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/HFH.{Hoppy F. Hamilton} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Hamifta, | ||
