No.27bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} This is another experiment on the undamped scrubber to Lec.2422, but in this case the points were purposely initially misaligned. The bedding has spread reasonably well across the points and the result is quite fair. The bedding was only 10% at the start. No misfiring involving trimming during the test occurred.

No.22. This is a further experiment running with mushroom rotor only - otherwise standard conditions. It does not prove any advantage on point life due to the mushroom rotor. Misfiring occurred and trimming was necessary at 7500 miles.

Speaking of battery ignition generally, the following is a copy of a report I have received from my assistant concerning battery ignition distributors at the Olympia Show.

"The percentage of cars employing battery ignition has increased considerably from last year and the popularity of this type of ignition is more confidently established mainly due to the high efficiency and long life of the modern battery.

The distributors exhibited showed almost universal use of cheap but reliable steel pressings both for contact arms and supports.

Flexibility of either the contact arm or the screw point was apparently aimed at, the arms being made as sketch :-

Tungsten contact points were universally used.

The Delco-Remy are now using two levers in flat parallel running with a three part cam and this they claim increases the life of the points more than double that of a single lever.

Both Lucas, and North East, closely follow Delco-Remy in design."
