1263 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}19/MH.{M. Huckerby} 30th. September 1937. Messrs. H.M.Hobson Components Ltd., 47 - 55, The Vale, Acton, London, W.3. For the attention of Mr. Hughes. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 24th. inst. and are interested to hear you intend to fit a warning light to the fuel guage. As to your suggestion for increasing the length of the scale, it rather rests with those responsible for the appearance of the instrument board to fit in a rectangular instrument. We will send you either a Bentley or 25/30 H.P. tank for calibrations as soon as we have one available. Since last writing we have removed your guage out of a Phantom III tank and although it was still operating satisfactorily, we are disapointed to see signs of corrosion on the support for the cam, and also that the cast float is split and the protecting varnish coming off. We are despatching the guage to you for inspection and would be glad if you would send us a replacement. The guage is just as it was removed from the chassis, and has not been allowed to lie about in the open. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
