Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} E/HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.9.3.36. Oilite Bush for Phantom III Clutch. We send herewith N.Sch.4777 which shows a standard oilite bush applied to the clutch shaft instead of the present oilite bush(G.83571)of special size. We have had to reduce the outside diameter of the splines by .050 and enlarge the bore of the clutch extension shaft. We do not like the reduction in the spline size as this is already on the small side, and for this reason we should prefer to retain the special bush until thorough testing has demonstrated that there is no objection to the reduced spline diameter.
