TELEPHONE: VICTORIA 4280. TELEGRAMS: "FUELECON.PHONE.LONDON". WESTERN UNION CODE. x741 L. C. HARVEY 25, VICTORIA STREET, WESTMINSTER. LONDON. S. W. 1. REF. { Yours BY7-P18321. Mine LCH/KFE 23rd March 1921. The Technical Production Engineer, Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Sir, x741 Piston Rings. Thank you for your letter dated 18th instant. The type of ring in which I am particularly interested is known as the 'Wedgerite' Piston Ring which has been manufactured in Canada and America and supplied in those countries in large quantities with complete success. I am now forming a British Company to manufacture in England, and at a later date I will send you our trade leaflets and price lists, and hope that you will accept some of these rings for test on one of your own cars. You will see that the design is very simple and the action of the expanding wedge is to keep the rings in close contact with the walls of the cylinders and also to effect expansion upwards and downwards so that the rings fit tightly against the grooves of the engine piston. On formation of the Company I will have further information sent on to you, and in the meantime if you would be good enough to let me have dimensions of the rings which are now fitted to Rolls-Royce Cars, I will see that sample sets are forwarded to you and prices given. Yours truly, L.C. Harvey. ENC: Leaflet. | ||
