Thickness discrepancy and potential material change in packing washers for a Bentley Pinion.

Bentley Pinion.
Packing Washers GB.613/8.

Kingsbury have received a consignment of the above washers. I am returning one that the inspector has shewn me with a difference of .002" in thickness. This has been marked so that you can check it up. Another feature Kingsbury have asked for an explanation of, is some washers look as if they are heat treated and are ground on the magnetic face plate. The one I am sending has been circular ground. Kingsbury state that the wear of these washers was hardly noticable until approximately this last six months. Is it possible that the material or hardness has been changed?
