Here again we are more inclined to credit the dotted curve for 11-B-V than that numbered 2 for 4-B-30. If we assume the dotted curve to be correct, we see that it very similar to No.1, but there is a considerable difference between curves 3 & 4. This difference is explained by the fact that on the Coupé with present production B.V wire wheels, the rear hub is 7/8" longer than the front hub. This means that the rear drum having been drawn out of the wheel to the extent of 7/8", it is now more open to the cooling air stream, and it can be seen from Figure 3 that there is an improvement in cooling of over 20%. We repeat, however, that this figure is not obtained from direct comparison. AIR DEFLECTORS. These were first used on the Comet, and the type used is shewn in Figure B. As can be seen from the drawing, the width of the aluminium air deflector was limited to 1.5" due to the proximity of the road spring, and part of the deflector had also to be cut away to avoid a body mounting. It was fixed to three brackets bolted to the dust shield. [Diagram] 1.500" FIG. B. METHOD OF FITTING AIR-DEFLECTOR. | ||
