If we are to have the proposed isolation scheme, we should be much better off with the present dash which is flexible than with the cast one which has rigidity and will crack.

We would much prefer to use the scuttle damper suggested by Mr. Royce which has functioned perfectly on 10.G3. and 14EX. It only got turned down because it would not steady the dash [& COWL] of the Sports Car. This trouble should not be overcome by means of the body. In any case it does not arise as the Sports Car is Dead.

We consider that there is a very apparent misunderstanding between ourselves, Sales and Derby on this subject, which could be best cleared up by all parties meeting.

We would be very glad if Derby would test and report on the scuttle damper on 14EX. for we have waited a long while for this information. It should be tried with the following combinations:-

(1) Gap between scuttle and dash open.
(2) Gap filled with sponge rubber.
(3) Gap filled with sponge rubber and two rubber washered bolts as close as is possible to the top of the dash to take the pull of the radiator stay.
