Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/EHS/L161214. Sheet. 2 X1452 Claudel Carburetters. Claudel carburetters will not work with heating on the Renault engines, we had them freeze right up before we fitted hot air pipe, also it caused the engine to mis-fire badly. Although by the look of the carburetter there seems no provision for fixing a hot air pipe when they are fitted to the machine there is a long sleeve on the exhaust pipe which collects the hot air and a pipe is lead to the inlet of the carburetter so that the whole of the air is heated. The Claudel people say that their carburetters will not work properly unless hot air or hot jacketed pipes are used. The Claudel carburetters which are supplied for the Renaults are not the latest type; we have just received two which we are giving a test on the Mercedes, they have an improved jet which is supposed to give easier starting. (The first sheet deals with the Mercedes carburetter & is filed in X13/S) | ||
