X293. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}4/MA. October 11th, 1932. Messrs. Park Ward & Co. Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 10th. inst; and we are glad to note that you are now clear on the little difficulties encountered in mounting the first two Bentley "A" bodies, and that you will correct the remaining bodies. We are sending you herewith an accurate 1/8" scale drawing showing the position of the side spare wheel carrier, you will notice that the bottom of the scuttle has to be cut away to clear the rear arm of the spare wheel carrier and the step iron which supports the wheel; the front arm of the carrier is of course forward of the dashboard and does not affect you, we can easily cut a piece out of the wing to clear this. The side spare wheel carrier is of course not used on the cars which have the spare wheel carried at the rear (i.e. sports saloon), and is fitted on the off side only on the other cars. With regard to the fouling of the rear wings by the doors, there is no question of having increased the overall width; the wings seem flatter than on the first body, and the outer edge appears slightly higher; the fouling is on the top of the wing and appears solely due to the slightly different wing shape. | ||
