7. On the interpretation of these results I am sure, from our work here at Vauxhall, that we must agree to differ. In the States we prefer moderate understeer because we need cars which will handle with definite stability on straight roads in a cross wind. ie. (the upturning limit means that in the limit the front wheels skid first) In England I should prefer a car with something between "perfect" steering (on the Ackermann angle) and a slight oversteer. The strong oversteer and the cockeyed condition produced by too much rear stabilizer would be condemned in any country. I hope this gives you useful information. Yrs Maurice Olley | ||
