Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} AJL Y5580. X-7580 Y5580 Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}.. from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to C. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} RECEIVED JUL 18 1930 PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT7.7.30. Proposed reduction of tool kits. With further reference to PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT2.7.30. and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL2/AD.4.7.30, in view of the fact that not one in 100 men in charge of their cars would know how to roughen the brake-shoes in order to prevent their sqeaking, and also the fact we have found a few spots of turps to be extremely helpful, instead of paraffin, in reducing squeaking, even to the extent in some cases of the effect being permanent, I think we should be justified in not supplying tools for dismantling the front hubs and pivots - as well as for the rear - in which case of course we should not have to consider supplying wheel-drawers.
