Contd. -3- EFC2/T28.11.17. a 1% increase in the flow causes a 2% increase in the reading. The actual difference between the reading of the meter for 4 pints in 60 secs. and for 4 pints in 59 or 61 secs. is very nearly .25". This meter, however, suffers from one fault and that is that the constant of the instrument alters with an alteration in the density of the petrol. Presumably this fault would also be apparent in a meter of the R.A.F. type if it could be detected above the other errors. We have one of these Venturi petrol flow meters, and at the moment we have just standardised our solution for this and are now making observations from day to day in order to see if the constant of the instrument comes out sufficiently accurately to enable this to be used as a reliable petrol flow meter for the test houses.
