For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst.

Dear Sir,

Referring to your letter of the 18th inst.
I am sorry that I have been unable to reply previously but I have been away from Derby.

We have carried out preliminary tests on your thermostats, and so far they have been quite satisfactory. We are arranging for an order to be sent to you for four more thermostats to EB.346. These can be exactly similar to the units recently supplied, only the drilling of the flange is different. We should be grateful if you would urge these thermostats, as at the moment we are ready to carry out tests on one of them. However, we want to be able to judge them as fair examples of your workmanship for operation and finish. If one thermostat is ready before the others we should like it sent on at once.

With regard to the gland to sketch Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1077.
We are producing 12 sets of these parts so that we can test the gland. No doubt you will hear about them in the future. At the moment we are not getting any trouble from our present glands. If you have any adverse criticism about the gland to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1077 we should like to hear it.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
