Y4541 To Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/LG13.3.28. ASHDOWN ROTOSCOPE. Y4541 We recommend that we purchase for experimental purposes one of the above instruments. The cost will be £30. Briefly, the rotoscope is similar to the oscilloscope - the oscilloscope however suffers from the disadvantage that it can only be used effectively in the dark and also it means electric power. With the Rotoscope it is possible to go up to any engine whether on the bed, or hangar, or in an aeroplane and watch by slow-motion the action of valves, valve springs, propeller or any other part. The reason the matter has come forward again now is that we think one of these instruments would be very helpful in helping to solve the problem of the magneto drive failures in the F. {Mr Friese} type engines. We strongly recommend that we purchase one of these instruments. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Quotation attached. | ||
