Rolls Royce Ltd., Nightingale Lane, DERBY. 20th February, 1925. Dear Sirs, The building of motor-cars has today reached a point where the efficiency of the power unit in almost any car built is very good, but unfortunately it is difficult to keep this degree of efficiency because of the rapid wear which takes place in cylinders, and the formation of carbon, both generally due to the dust which is drawn into the engine on the intake stroke. Designers of motor car engines fully appreciate the fact that some method should be provided for filtering the air which is drawn into the cylinder, but in the past many difficulties have been encountered, which have made this impracticable. The solution has now been found in the United Air Cleaner, as described in the enclosed circular. This Air Cleaner is now fitted as standard equipment on the well-known CHRYSLER car, amongst many others. Colonial buyers are beginning to insist that their cars be fitted with this Air Cleaner, owing to the conditions under which they are obliged to work. Although the English motorist uses his car under more favourable conditions, the necessity for a device of this kind is great. May we have the pleasure of discussing with you the supply of Air Cleaners suitable for use with your car? They not only increase the life of the engine, but they add a distinct selling point as well. They are not expensive, and do not interfere in any way with the efficiency of the power unit. We look forward to hearing from you in reference to this matter, and beg to remain, Yours very truly, R.{Sir Henry Royce} A.{Mr Adams} ROTHERMEL, Ltd. | ||
