BENTLEY lll - FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING.

Please receive herewith :-

E.CD.1072 Front Engine Mounting with Increased Depth of Rubber. Bentley lll.

This design is in accordance with a request from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} for an increase in the depth of the front engine support rubber similar to the scheme provided previously for the Wraith lll on design E.CD.743, all the additional rubber being on the underside of the nose bearing which raises the centre line of the nose bearing by .550".

The rubbers and the front retaining plate for this mounting are as instructed for the B.60 engine support. We have revised the centres of the two upper studs for fixing the nose bearing to the cylinder block, to give an increased clearance for the engine settling down on the deeper rubber; this should also apply to the design E.CD.743 for the Wraith lll.

It should be remembered that the Wraith lll and Bentley lll cylinder blocks at present are common, and this point should be kept in mind in connection with the introducing of this modification for production on either of the two cars.

Will you please detail and instruct experimentally.
