Copy to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4304 E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MN. 20th. March, 1935. Messrs. Park Ward & Co., 473 High Road, Willesden, London, N.W.10. For the attention of Mr.C.Ward. Dear Sirs, Re Continental Touring Saloon - 32EX. We enclose herewith specification for the sound insulation of this body (E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/MN.18.3.35.). You will notice that our recommendations follow almost exactly those which the Expl. Dept. have given you for the Bentley, only being modified where differences in the body have necessitated a change. We also attach herewith a print of LeC 4397 showing a stiffened running board bracket. This applies to the first and centre brackets, the positions of which on the chassis frame have not been changed. We call your attention to the fact that we have raised the top of the step bracket 1/4 inch, the dimension now being 9 ins. below level top of the chassis frame. As far as we can see using a sheet aluminium step board with a thin three-ply board lining, will not necessitate the top of the step being raised from the position in which you have designed it, but would like you to verify this and let us know the result. We have yet to send you painting and trimming instructions. We hope to do this in the course of the next day or two, and we appreciate that it will be necessary to choose leather which is in stock. Yours faithfully, For and on behalf of ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. Att:LeC.4397. | ||
