Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr.Robotham.

We thank you for your communication of the 14th and are pleased to learn that the pistons came to hand without delay.

We are duly in receipt of your official order covering the work and with respect to the pistons in RR.53 alloy, you will be pleased to learn that satisfactory arrangements have been made to supply these, and in fact, the castings are now actually being heat treated.

Before we finally grind these, we should like to hear from you with regard to your experience with the new form as to whether you would consider it advantageous to reduce the major axis clearance. We feel that, given a reasonable amount of running in - which, no doubt, you do for the benefit of other components in the engine - the clearance could be reduced by .001", which could only be to the ultimate benefit of the job in the hands of your customers.
