re Switchbox.

Referring to our conversation in connection with the new switchbox, I am sending you herewith a blueprint of RR. Sch. 419 shewing the design of same.

The external appearance of the box can be seen from the view given in the top right hand corner.

The small knob at the top of the box deals with ignition only. It is necessary to separate this from the main switching operations so that in an emergency the operation of cutting off the engine will be rendered as simple as possible.

The main switch handle in the 'off' position cuts everything off including the starter, and the switch can be locked in this position.

With this arrangement the switchbox acts as a master switch and renders all circuits dead in the 'off' position with the exception of the main starter circuit.

RR. scheme 419 is arranged for one ignition only. We have put alterations in hand so that it will be suitable for dual ignition, which will be necessary for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III and the Straight 8.4 litre in courseof design.
