Bailey - Chief Engineer} 10/N.4.1.39. ---------- WRAITH - MODIFICATIONS. ---------- It is necessary for the following modifications to be carried out on Wraith chassis, and as many cars as possible should be dealt with before being delivered. All the modifications have been instructed by the D.O. and I realize certain cars have been dealt with as far as possible with the material available. In regard to cars for Export, we attach a *list of these, and have indicated the modifications carried out. (1) Cylinder head EW.1949. (2) Modified speedometer drive - 71 cars affected. (3) Modification to the Instrument Board to prevent bulbs burning out - 24 cars affected. (4) Replacement of the Distributor with hardened cams - 130 cars will require cams inspecting. (5) Propeller Shaft - 'A' and 'B' series affected, but a number of 'B' series chassis will be changed before they leave the works. (6) Gearbox - 1st. Motion Shaft - 'A' and 'B' series affected, but a number of 'B' series chassis will be changed before they leave the works. (7) Ammeter Terminal - to allow greater clearance between the terminal and the case. 'A' and 'B' series affected, but a number of 'B' series chassis will be dealt with before they leave the works.
