I have two letters this morning from America, one from Mr.Rosac and one from Mr.Fuller.

In the one from Mr.Rosac he talks about several different cars which have arrived and runs which he has personally made on them etc., makes one or two small criticisms, but finishes up by saying: "All in all, however, I would consider it quite satisfactory with the exception of one very important factor and that is the riding. Neither the 25 nor the Phantom II's are possible at present from a riding standpoint."

The one from Mr.Fuller encloses copy of a letter written them by Mr.Porter B.Chase who is said to be an enthusiastic user of RR cars, owning several and who has recently been using one of the latest 20/25's.

I enclose copy of this report and would in particular draw attention to what he says about the riding qualities.

The distressing feature about this matter to me is that we always consider the springing of the 20 and the Phantom II infinitely superior to the Phantom I, yet the American-made Phantom I's seem to be considered - at any rate in America - as superior to both.

This is very serious because of the 200 Phantom II's for which we have the order, and in regard to the 20/25's I do not think it is at all likely that they will place an order for these so long as the springing is in their opinion so unsatisfactory.

I should be glad if you would have a discussion with BY and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} on the subject and then let me hear from you.

At this moment I am not worrying R.{Sir Henry Royce} about the matter.
