Urgent preparation and selection of a Trials Car for the Paris Show, comparing chassis 21-EX and 1-WJ.

Sidgreaves - MD} and C. are very keen to have a Trials Car from the Experimental Dept. to be used in Paris during the Show period; they suggest 21-EX.. Will the Exptl Dept. get very busy preparing this car, and getting it into its best possible state for this purpose. I understand from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} that 21-EX is not such a good car, and is not, in his opinion, any better than the one which has been rejected by PN.{Mr Northey}. I have been on the telephone to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and C. and given them this information, but they are in dreadful trouble and want to try this car. They are sending back to us to-morrow 1-WJ and this chassis should be compared with 21-EX., so that the best programme is, to go ahead on both these cars - 21-EX and 1-WJ., so that we may select the better of the two. Every possible effort should be made to get 21-EX as good as possible, and I should like Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}, EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to try this car in comparison with 1-WJ.. If all agree that 1-WJ. is below our standard, could it be improved in time for a Trials Car if 21-EX is proved unsuitable. It is an urgent matter to get a really good Trials Car to the Paris Show.
