SECRET. R x328 GRY{Shadwell Grylls} To DY.{F R Danby} from HDY.{William Hardy} HDY.{William Hardy}/1/HF.{H. W. Frost - Coachwork Inspector}14.2.35. c. WOr.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ba. RMC. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Gearbox. We have been asked by the Experimental Department to provide more flexibility in the rubber mounting of the gearbox to improve the silence and accordingly send herewith N.Sch.4373 which shews the modifications we suggest to the rubbers and N. Sch.4368 which provides loose joints at the ends of the stay. We are aware that the bronze bush construction has been discarded in connection with the engine stays, but as the duty in our case is so very much less severe we suggest that we start with the cheaper scheme. We have asked the Experimental Department to order some rubbers to the existing detail drawings but with no canvas as we can no doubt secure these quickly and gain some information from them that may be of value. HDY.{William Hardy} N.Sch.4373 herewith. 4368 " | ||
