re. 20-HP. K.L.G. Ignition Plugs.

Further to our EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}1/H31.1.24 - we have today had an interview with Mr. K.Lee Guiness and Mr. Van Raalte, re the above, and were able to demonstrate to them the complaints we have made as reported in the above mentioned memo, paragraph 2.

We do not wish to say that this is a general complaint, but it has occured on a car in customer's hands and Mr. Guiness quite appreciates the trouble and was very glad to have the demonstration. He proposes to take action immediately to improve the insulation of this plug so as to overcome the trouble by increasing the external length, and also other features which he will test out.

Meantime, we shall be glad if you will hold up ordering any further plugs unless they are of this improved type. Thispoint I mentioned to Mr. Guiness and he was quite prepared to appreciate it and see that no further plugs were supplied unless they were of the improved type.

We think it would be advisable for you to get in touch with the K.L.G. people and confirm this point and make quite sure that we shall be able to keep going with our plug supplies. Also you might propose changing some of our existing stock for the improved type, as they say the existing ones are of stock size and could be used elsewhere.

They consider that the ignition plug for our 20-HP battery ignition has to stand a strain which is greater than that which they thought existed, and they are now undertaking to produce plugs which will stand the test which we have demonstrated to them is required for this car.

The six Experimental Plugs which Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} had in hand and about which he complained had failed, we were able to demonstrate had failed due to a definite short in the internal insulation, they also had the fault as mentioned above. Mr. Lee Guiness is anxious we should not test these plugs any further, but he will send us further samples of the special type of plug with the
